EAGLE, Colo.—Continued dry, warm weather has raised the fire danger in much of the state, including parts of western Colorado.
A red flag warning has been issued for lower elevations there for Saturday from noon until Saturday night because of gusty winds that will usher in a cold front.
Because of the threat, Eagle County has suspended all burn permits indefinitely. Using fireworks or other explosive devices is also banned.
While there’s still snow in the mountains, Eagle River fire chief Carl Bauer said the valley floor is very dry.
At least four Front Range counties have also imposed fire restrictions following the outbreak of the wildfire near Conifer.
The good news is that the approaching front has the potential to bring some snow to the mountains and the Denver area.
