Man in Conifer walks off with woman’s wallet, cash at King Soopers service counter

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a man who seized on a crime of opportunity when a woman at grocery store left her wallet at the service counter.

The man caught on surveillance tape was standing behind the woman at the Conifer King Soopers store at about 9:15 a.m. on March 28.

She had cashed her paycheck and had about $1,100 in cash in her wallet, the sheriff’s department stated.

The man then “stepped up to the counter and placed a package on top of the wallet. When he walked away, he picked up the wallet and concealed it under the package.,” the sheriff’s department stated.

The man appears to be in his mid-50s. He is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and around 200 pounds. Anyone with information can call the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department tip line at 303-271-5612.
