Delaware artist Richard Clifton has the stamp-design thing down pretty well.
Clifton’s rendering of a pair of Ross’ geese bagged him a third consecutive win in the Colorado Waterfowl Stamp art contest and the $3,500 prize.
A team of judges from across the state selected Clifton’s entry to be the 2012 Colorado Waterfowl Stamp.
Clifton first won the contest in 2010, with a depiction of two flying pintails, then won in 2011 with a painting of three wading teals.
The Colorado Waterfowl Stamp program, launched in 1990, raises money for wetlands conservation. Waterfowl hunters 16 and older must buy a stamp before hunting.
Clifton’s winning streak isn’t the longest in Waterfowl Stamp history. From 1998 through 2003, Montana artist Cynthie Fisher won the annual competition.
