A University of Denver student was injured this morning when she collided with a vehicle while riding a bicycle.
The accident happened about 8 a.m. in the 2000 block of South University Boulevard, said Raquel Lopez, a Denver Police Department spokeswoman.
The student, Sophie Hoad, is scheduled to undergo surgery this evening at Swedish Medical Center, said Nicole Williams, a hospital spokeswoman.
Hoad broke her leg in the accident.
The driver of the vehicle was exiting a parking lot when the accident happened, Lopez said.
Hoad was cited for riding her bicycle on the sidewalk. The driver was not cited, Lopez said.
