EAGLE, Colo.—The Colorado Department of Transportation says the Dotsero Bridge over the Colorado River in Dotsero is free to anyone who can move it.
CDOT is replacing the bridge because it doesn’t meet current design standards. The 150-foot-long metal truss bridge was built in 1935 and is listed on the National Register.
CDOT says the structure may be a candidate for reuse as a pedestrian or recreational trail bridge, though it needs a new deck and abutments. It also has lead paint that would have to be removed.
People interested in “adopting” the old bridge are asked to submit written relocation plans detailing the proposed use and new location for the structure and resources for maintaining it.
