A 10-person crew will spend the night on Goat Mountain in Larimer County to tend to an 8.5-acre fire that is burning within a half mile of four structures, the U.S. Forest Service said this evening.
The service expected full containment tonight.
The blaze started by lightning and is burning north of Larimer County Road 80C in the northern part of the Roosevelt National Forest in the Cherokee Park area, about three miles south of the Wyoming state line.
A single-engine air tanker made water drops this afternoon, but has been sidelined for the evening, according to the forest service.
