AURORA, Colo.—Union officials say eight Buckley Air Force Base barbers who went on strike over a pay dispute have ratified a new five-year contract agreement.
United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 says the barbers picketed after their private employer, Gino Morena Enterprises, sought to cut their commissions from 60 percent to 55 percent. They say that request was on top of concessions accepted in previous contracts.
The union says that under an agreement that barbers ratified Tuesday night, commissions will remain at 60 percent.
San Francisco-based Gino Morena Enterprises didn’t immediately return a phone message seeking comment Wednesday.
The barbers were on picket lines for more than four weeks.
The union says many soldiers at Buckley went off base for haircuts during the strike.
