LONGMONT, Colo.—A school in Erie where several students and staff have been ill with nausea, vomiting and fever will be closed Friday.

Weld County health officials sent a letter to parents Thursday saying the temporary closure of Black Rock Elementary School is to prevent the illness from spreading.

Health officials haven’t determined exactly what’s making people sick, but they suspect it’s a viral illness.

The Longmont Times-Call reports ( ) the school will be thoroughly cleaned over the weekend and will reopen on Monday.
