LONE TREE — Lone Tree police this evening arrested two men in connection with the harassment of two 11-year-old girls riding their bicycles on April 20. Earlier police had characterized the incident as an attempted abduction.
Monte Greenwald, 57, faces charges of careless driving and harassment, and Raymond Desrosiers, 58, faces a charge of harassment. Their hometowns and booking photos were not available, but their arrest records indicate they are from the south metro area.
Earlier today, police said the girls were riding their bikes along Heritage Hills Parkway and South Shadow Hill Circle before noon on April 20 when a white cargo panel van approached them.
A passenger tried to grab one of the girls, police said, but the other girl screamed and the driver sped off.
“Investigators believe this is an isolated incident, however, the information has been provided to several law enforcement agencies in an attempt to identify if any possible similar events have occurred,” Lone Tree police said in a statement.
Court records show Desrosiers is serving two years probation after pleading guilty to driving while abilities impaired in Arapahoe County in December. He pleaded guilty to the same offense in Adams County in 2002.
Greewald pleaded guilty to vehicular assault and driving under the influence of alcohol in Arapahoe County in 2000 and was sentenced to six months in jail and three years probation, records show. A domestic violence charge against him was filed and later dropped in Littleton in 1996.
