
The cost of a gallon of gasoline in Denver remained above the national average costing $3.80 on Sunday compared to the national average of $3.77 .
The average cost of a gallon fell 3.4 cents per gallon last week in Denver, compared with the national average that fell 2.9 cents per gallon last week.
Prices in Denver Sunday average 13 cents a gallon higher than the same day a year ago and are 1.7 cents a gallon lower than a month ago.
Nationally, the average cost of a gallon of gasoline stands at 15.9 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago.
Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for , said that the falling gas prices are “great news for motorists.”
But he said some “hot spots may burn motorists before they see any sizable relief.
“When I mention hot spots, I’m thinking of the West Coast where supply has dropped considerably, causing tightness and perhaps higher prices.”
He added that the rest of the country should see “short-term relief” ahead of Memorial Day.
