FRISCO, Colo.—Budget cuts are forcing the Lake Dillon fire and rescue department to seek donations for books to educate students about safety issues.
Summit County fire department income comes almost entirely from property taxes, which are falling as home values continue to fall.
According to the Summit Daily News ( ), the Red, White and Blue Fire Protection District receives about $3,500 in donations every year as part of their budget of $7 million.
