LITCHFIELD PARK, ariz. —Jim Knous claimed medalist honors to lead the Colorado Mines men’s golf team to a berth in the NCAA Division II national championships with a third-place finish Wednesday at the Central/West Super Regional at Wigwam Golf Course.
The Orediggers finished at 12-over-par 871 to qualify for the NCAAs in Louisville, Ky., starting Tuesday. Cal State Stanislaus rallied past Mines and Chico (Calif.) State to win the regional with an 865.
Second-round leader Knous shot a final-round 1-over 73 but still beat Kyle Souza of Chico by two strokes with a 7-under 209.
