Denver police are investigating a possible robbery that left a convenience store clerk in the hospital Wednesday night.

Around 9:57 p.m., two suspects entered a convenience store near Bruce Randolph Avenue and York Street, said Raquel Lopez, a spokeswoman for the Denver Police Department.

The suspects were apparently trying to rob the store when one of them shot the male clerk.

The clerk, whose name has not been released, was taken to a nearby hospital. He is in stable condition, Lopez said.

Police are looking for the two suspects, who fled the store before officers arrived. Descriptions of the suspects were not immediately available.
