Having defeated the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the North American Soccer League on Tuesday, the Rapids will play at Sporting K.C. this coming Tuesday in the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The winner advances to the tournament quarterfinals, which are June 26. The semifinals are July 10, and the final on Aug. 7 or 8.
Seven MLS teams were ousted by lower-division teams Tuesday: New England, Los Angeles, Chicago, Columbus, FC Dallas, Houston and Real Salt Lake.
The Rapids do not have an MLS game until June 16, when they travel to Vancouver. Colorado’s next home game is June 20 against San Jose.
