Classical music: CSO rounds out its season in grand style
tonight and saturday. Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 is a marathon of sorts. It’s luxurious and long, the kind of masterwork you settle into. He wrote it as a tribute to nature, and its placement at the tail end of the CSO’s season makes it an appropriate accompaniment to a warm Colorado spring evening. Hope for good weather. Lots of great guests for this one: Jesús López-Cobos, above, conducts, mezzo Sasha Cooke sings. They get support from females’ voices of the Colorado Symphony Chorus and the Colorado Children’s Chorale. Hear them all at 7:30 tonight and Saturday, Boettcher Concert Hall, Denver Performing Arts Complex, 14th and Curtis streets. 303-623-7876 or . Ray Mark Rinaldi
