One westbound lane of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard is closed from Hudson to Forest streets as Denver Water crews repair a ruptured 12-inch water main.

The break occurred at about 4 p.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Glencoe Street. Traffic is being detoured one block to the north.

Denver Water crews had earlier expected to complete the repair by 1 a.m.

but this evening said it hoped to restore water to about 22 homes along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard by 3 a.m. and restore and reopen the road by 5 a.m.

Workers were slowed because of depth of the pipe underground and the extent of repairs that were needed. They are replacing about 13 feet of pipe, the utility stated tonight.
