Denver police have closed East Eighth Avenue between Logan and Grant streets after a water line ruptured this evening.
The Denver Fire Department is on scene. Lt. Phil Champagne said 6 to 8 inches of water was running down the street as of about 10:30 p.m., as crews waited on Denver Water to arrive and shut off the flow.
There is no estimate of when the repair will be made and the street reopened.
He said no home basements in the area had been flooded, but water was pooling on some lawns.
The break is about a half block west of Boettcher Mansion, the governor’s ceremonial residence.
