COMMERCE CITY, Colo.—Coroner’s officials say human remains that were found at Suncor’s plant in Commerce City appear to be archaeological.

The bones were found March 2 by Suncor Energy USA Pipeline Co. employees working to place a water line at the plant.

Adams County Coroner Monica Broncucia Jordan said Tuesday that an anthropological examination supports that the remains are archaeological, likely Native American, and that the plant was the site of a secondary interment.

Jordan says the remains will be turned over to the Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation for repatriation.
