BOISE, idaho — Boise State lawyers say the school engaged in talks with the Mountain West about staying in the league — despite denying publicly those talks were occurring. The Idaho Statesman confirmed the negotiations Monday as a result of a public records request. Boise State didn’t release documents sought by the newspaper, citing attorney-client privilege, but school officials confirmed the talks with the league. In May, athletic director Mark Coyle denied the school was talking about staying in the Mountain West. Boise State is scheduled to move its football team to the Big East for the 2013 season.
