The has officially flatlined.
The inaugural Pulse Music Festival — a one-day, multi-stage electronic, pop and hip-hop event scheduled for June 29 at Pepsi Center — has been canceled, according to an internal email obtained by Reverb this afternoon.
The email, which was sent strictly to members of the organizing team, takes the form of a press release and cites only “unforeseen circumstances” as the cause of cancellation. Festival organizers have not responded to requests for comment at the time of first publication.
The large-scale event featured headliners LL Cool J, DJ Z-Trip, Common, Asher Roth and a tribute to late Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch by DJ Skribble, among many other DJs and electronic artists.
Many believed that the festival — described by promoters as containing “futuristic art … a massive VJ Performance tent, fire breathers, stilt walkers” etc. — was doomed from the start given an overall lack of promotion and brand awareness. The festival’s first press materials began circulating in Mid-May, some six weeks before the event.
The email notes that tickets will be refunded through the point of purchase beginning the week of June 18.
As of Monday afternoon, . However, the “Buy Tickets (General)” link leads to a with no scheduled events on June 29.
