An Aurora police officer suffered from smoke inhalation as the officer helped evacuees from a fire in a 16-unit apartment building building tonight.
The officer was treated and is expected to be OK, said Aurora Fire Capt. Allen Robnett.
Two units in the two-story complex at 358 North Potomac Way were burned at about 7 p.m., when the fire started in one unit and spread to the building’s attic.
One of the residents was treated at the scene for a minor injury. Robnett said
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Robnett did not have information about the cost or extent of the damage.
None of the residents of the complex will be able to return home tonight, however, he said. The American Red Cross is providing assistance.
