More and more fireworks shows are being canceled or postponed as drought conditions and fire danger continue to threaten state forests.
Bandimere Speedway has suspended its July 4 fireworks show, scheduled to complete the Big O Tires “Jet Car Nationals & Family Festival” evening.
Other new cancellations announced Thursday included Edgewater, Lafayette, Cañon City and Glendale. In all cases, non-fireworks festivities will continue, including parades and pie-eating contests.
Bandimere Speedway said in a statement that it “hoped to continue this tradition honoring God, the United States of America, and our history, but the best decision is to support those in need as a result of the wild fires burning across Colorado, and eliminate any risks that could be created from our show.”
