A man was stabbed Friday afternoon in Denver near a busy fast food restaurant as more than a dozen people looked on.
The incident happened about 1:20 p.m. near the intersection of Speer Boulevard and East Sixth Avenue, said Sonny Jackson, a Denver Police Department spokesman.
“There was a confrontation there, it appeared to be between several transients,” Jackson said.
One man had a knife and another man was stabbed, said a witness who was eating in a nearby Burger King.
At least two men were arguing and the loud disagreement drew several people to a window looking out on the pair, said Zach Salcedo, 22, a lunch patron.
“One guy pulled out a knife and stabbed another guy,” Salcedo said.
Shortly after the stabbing, police, firefighters and an ambulance showed up, Salcedo said.
“You could see the blood on his clothes and face,” Salcedo said of the victim.
Both the stabbing victim and the suspect were taken to Denver Health Medical Center to be treated for injuries, Jackson said.
It was not immediately clear what started the disturbance.
The incident is being investigated as an aggravated assault.
