LAKEWOOD, Colo.—A group of Lakewood residents is threatening to petition for an election over a proposed charter school for the deaf.
The Rocky Mountain Deaf School wants to move from Golden so it can build on Jefferson County School District property.
If residents collect enough signatures, the petition would force the council to revisit the decision. If the council refuses to overturn the rezoning, the issue would go to the voters this fall.
According to the Denver Post ( ), opponents say they are not opposed to rezoning property for the school, but the city has other options and residents are concerned about too much construction.
