 A man who drowned while ona fishing trip on the Colorado River Saturday had a blood-alcohol level of .408, the Mesa County coroner’s office stated Monday.

Steven L. Ball, 44, is “part of the Grand Junction homeless community,” the Mesa County coroner’s office said.

He went into the river near a friend’s home. The cause is under investigation.

His BAC would be considered more than five times the legal limit to drive in Colorado.

Public records show Ball has been arrested several times in Mesa County, including charges of assault, trespassing and domestic violence.
