DENVER—A Denver television station is reporting that a psychiatrist who was treating the suspected Colorado movie theater gunman asked University of Colorado police for a background check on the man six weeks before the July 20 shootings.
KMGH-TV reported Monday ( ) that Dr. Lynne Fenton didn’t ask that James Eagan Holmes be taken to a hospital for evaluation and observation.
Separately, ABC News reported that Fenton told a campus police officer in early June that she had concerns about Holmes.
Fenton’s attorneys didn’t immediately comment on the reports. University police and a university spokeswoman say they can’t comment, citing a judge’s gag order.
Holmes was a graduate student at the university. He is charged with killing 12 people and injuring 58 at an Aurora theater.
