LEADVILLE, Colo.—Both lanes of U.S. 24 over Tennessee Pass are set to be open at 7 p.m. Friday following repairs to fix a 100-foot-deep hole.

The contractor Hayward Baker Inc. has been working to repair the hole, which opened July 9 when the soil gave way above an abandoned, collapsed railroad tunnel.

One lane reopened last week, ahead of schedule. The Colorado Department of Transportation says all work is scheduled for completion Friday night.

That’s in plenty of time to allow the USA Pro Cycling Challenge to send racers over Tennessee Pass on Aug. 23.
