DENVER—The federal Bureau of Land Management is offering nearly 1,000 acres for oil and gas leases in Colorado.
The sale on Thursday is near the Grand Mesa National Forest.
The state gets about 50 percent from the sale, with the remainder going to the U.S. government.
During the last fiscal year, the state collected more than $150 million from royalties, rentals and bonus bid payments for all federal minerals, including oil and gas.
Colorado has more than approximately 4 million acres of public mineral estate leased for oil and natural gas development, generating an estimated $5 billion a year in economic benefits.
