DENVER—The U.S. Forest Service wants to put limits on rental companies that provide ATVs and snowmobiles at trailheads.
Two companies that drop off and pick up ATVs and snowmobiles at the Vail Pass summit parking area have already received shut-down orders. Forest managers are also looking at mountain bike rental operations as part of their efforts.
White River National Forest ranger Jan Cutts tells the Denver Post ( ) some activities are not appropriate in national forests because too many people are getting off trails and causing damage.
