A 24-year-old Denver man has been identified as the hiker who died in a rockslide Saturday near Hagerman Peak in Gunnison.
Rob Jansen died of a chest injury, Pitkin County Sheriff’s officials said Monday.
His body will be recovered by a National Guard helicopter, which will also retrieve members of Mountain Rescue Aspen from the area, Pitkin County Deputy Renee Rayton said.
“It was the second rescue of the day; the other was in the Maroon Bells, which is why they couldn’t get his body sooner,” Rayton said.
The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office while a party of five was hiking, officials said.
Tyler Prince suffered a broken ankle in the slide, but has since been released from the hospital, Rayton said.
