A man and woman were arrested Friday morning in Arvada after crashing a stolen vehicle into a wall and attempting to flee on foot, police said.

The incident unfolded about 5 a.m. after police tried to make a traffic stop near the intersection of West 54th Avenue and Kipling Street, according to an Arvada Police Department media release.

The driver, a woman police identified as 21-year-old Kimberly Zordel, made a u-turn in a parking lot and scraped a police car as she tried to elude officers.

Zordel drove to the nearby Arvada Station apartments, at West 52nd Avenue and Kipling Street, where the vehicle crashed into a concrete wall.

Zordel and a man fled on foot, police said. She was captured at the scene and was carrying a loaded handgun, according to the release.

Officers cordoned off the area and used a police dog in an unsuccessful attempt to capture the man.

About 8 a.m., a Wheat Ridge police officer spotted the suspect, who fled the crash walking along the 11200 block of I-70 Frontage Road North, police said.

The suspect, identified as Peter Cline, 30, was taken into custody.

Cline has an outstanding warrant for his arrest, police said.

Cline and Zordel both have arrest records in the state, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation database.

Cline’s arrest record dates to 2000, and Zordel’s to 2009.

Zordel’s record includes a motor vehicle theft conviction in Glendale in 2009, for which she served 81 days in jail.

Cline was found guilty of a drug charge in Littleton in 2007, for which he served 51 days in jail.
