COLORADO SPRINGS — Cheyenne Mountain Zoo announced the gender of one of Colorado Springs’ newest residents this week — a bouncing baby gorilla.

And the zoo is asking the public to name him.

After the baby arrived, zookeepers were unable to get close enough to the gorilla and its protective mother to figure out whether blue or pink was in order.

The zoo will take name suggestions from Sept. 10 to 20, online at and in person at the Primate World exhibit. The top three names will be announced Sept. 21, and voting will be held at the zoo Sept. 22 through Oct. 5.
