A man was injured Friday morning in an explosion at a Jefferson County home.

The explosion, which happened about 11:40 a.m. at 28661 Moss Rock Road, in the Genesee Park area, sparked a fire at the home, said Mark Techmeyer, a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

The incident happened when a man in the home tried to light a pilot on a furnace or hot water heater, Techmeyer said.

The injured man, who received burns, was taken to a local hospital. Further details on his injuries were not available.

Firefighters responded to the home and have put out a fire. There were no other injuries.
