DENVER—Denver International Airport is considering cutting the use of Denver police officers who provide security.

Airport officials say they have been paying Denver police overtime since the airport was built, but it costs a lot of money.

Airport officials tell KUSA-TV ( ) it has paid nearly $2 million a year in overtime to Denver officers. The proposal would reduce the cost to about $600,000 a year by reducing shifts.

Airport spokesman Jeff Green says people pulling up to the airport may soon see a combination of security officers working the curb and uniformed officers providing enforcement.
