RENO, Nev.—The executive director of Reno’s annual Artown festival has been elected vice president of the board of directors of the influential Western Arts Alliance.

Beth Macmillan was voted into the position at the organization’s recent annual Arts Alliance convention in Denver.

Founded in 1967, the alliance has more than 600 members made up of touring and performing arts professionals who use it to help book their acts.

MacMillan says her election will help elevate Artown’s prestige and allow the festival to continue to bring in national caliber acts and performances.

Artown Board Chairman Dave Aiazii says McMillan deserves credit for expanding the awareness of the gathering that runs through the entire month of July “with some of the biggest players in the country.”
