Media in Wyoming are identifying a man with ties to Colorado as a suspect in a child abduction in Cody, Wyo., on Oct. 8.

While authorities have not officially released the man’s name, the reports that Jesse Paul Speer, 40, was arrested in Belgrade, Mont., and booked into the Gallatin County Detention Facility at 11:15 p.m. Saturday by the FBI on a $2 million bail from Wyoming. , Mont., noted he is the only person being held on a warrant from Wyoming.

Law enforcement officials had been searching for a man who l into his SUV, saying he needed help finding his lost puppy. The girl was returned to her family several hours later after she was found by a group of hunters on a rural road near a popular hunting area outside the town. The girl told investigators that her abductor flashed a gun and told her to get into his vehicle.

Authorities involved in the manhunt for ‘s killer say the two cases are not connected.

FBI spokesman Dave Joly said by e-mail that he could not confirm the identity of the suspect, noting a 10 a.m. news conference Monday at Cody City Hall, where more information will be released.

Speer has numerous connections to Colorado, including homes and photography businesses in Colorado Springs, Woodland Park, Dubois, Manitou Springs and Estes Park, public records show.

Speer has no arrest record in Colorado.
