BOULDER, Colo.—An academic adviser at the University of Colorado has softened a ban on guns in his office, adding a pretty please to his request that students leave their weapons outside.

Economics adviser Ken Bonetti says he sees the dispute over weapons on campus as an issue of public health and safety, not a political issue.

The Colorado Supreme Court has ruled that students with conceal-carry permits are allowed to bring guns into classrooms and labs.

University officials tell the Boulder Daily Camera ( ) replacing the words “Absolutely no guns” with the words “Please do not bring guns” complies with the court ruling, as long as it’s a friendly request.
