PUEBLO — The Rifle Bears just keep on rolling.
On Saturday, coach Damon Wells’ team punched the first ticket to its title game since 2005 with a 56-6 pasting of Pueblo East (10-3) at Dutch Clark Stadium.
The Bears got 205 yards on 17 carries from senior Ryan Moeller, who also scored twice, but they also had a big day from junior Kellin Leigh.
Leigh scored on the Bears’ first play from scrimmage — a 74-yard run — and caught Rifle’s only pass of the day for an 80-yard score. He finished with 105 yards on six carries.
Rifle (13-0), which last won a state title in 2004 with a 7-6 victory over Sterling, will play Silver Creek on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Legacy Stadium for the Class 3A state title.
CLASS 3A SEMIFINAL
(10) Silver Creek 24, (6) Conifer 7.
CONIFER — Eric Machmueller’s 21-yard reception near the end of the second quarter gave the Raptors the lead for good.
Silver Creek (11-2) will play in its second straight 3A title game. Conifer finishes 10-3.
CLASS 1A CHAMPIONSHIP
(3) Cedaredge 18, (1) Buena Vista 16
BUENA VISTA — Cade Wasser scored twice, and the Bruins (12-1) won their first state title of any kind since 1964.
Buena Vista, with former star and current New England Patriots offensive tackle Nate Solder on hand, also finished 12-1.
CLASS A 8-MAN CHAMPIONSHIP
(2) Hoehne 58, (16) Granada 30
GRANADA — The Farmers won their second title in three years, rallying from a 24-16 halftime deficit to beat the upstart Bobcats (9-4). Hoehne (13-0) got 256 yards passing from quarterback Sawyer Schafer.
