DENVER—An Internet company that has been the subject of complaints that it spent tax dollars to build fiber optic lines in communities where there is already high-speed service is facing suspension of federal funds over another issue.
Eagle-Net, a quasi-government run Internet service provider, was originally awarded a $100 million stimulus grant. KUSA-TV in Denver reports the company was notified Thursday that funds are being suspended because of questions over compliance on environmental and other issues ().
The company says it is working to answer the complaints.
Separately, some members of Colorado’s congressional delegation have questioned the company’s service.
In one case, the company installed a fiber optic line in Flagler in eastern Colorado where two other private companies already have fiber optic lines.
