GOLDEN, Colo.—A man who pleaded guilty to the execution-style shootings of two men in Evergreen in 2004 has been sentenced to 48 years in prison.
Pam Russell of the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office says 34-year-old Robert Montoya was sentenced on Dec. 6.
KMGH-TV reports ( ) that Montoya shot two men who had discovered a marijuana growing operation while they were cleaning an Evergreen home.
Russell said he tied the men’s hands behind their backs and shot each one four times.
Both men survived.
Montoya fled to Mexico and was put on the FBI’s Most Wanted list. He was arrested in El Paso, Texas, in 2011.
Montoya pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder in August.
