In the foothills of west Arvada today, you can follow the Cupcake Truck to a grand opening of four Lennar Homes models at Leyden Rock, where you’ll see a new collection of attainably priced homes designed around preferences for how families use space today; a new ranch model and plans for three others – and as icing on the cake, three lots that’ll have views of Denver’s downtown night lights.

You’ll also hear about nearby schools that are among the highest rated in the state, including Ralston Valley High, 7-time winner of the ‘excellent’ rating by Colorado Department of Education; 8-for-10-star Drake Junior High, and 10-for-10-star West Woods Elementary.

Assuming that families with school-aged kids are major buyers here, Lennar is making this the Denver debut for two models from its new Monarch Series – plans designed around new buyer profiles that view space differently than buyers did ten years ago. “You’re going to see bigger kitchen layouts, more space for family members to hang out together, and on some, special ‘owner’s entries’ where you can drop off and charge your personal electronics,” says Lennar’s Carrie Kayl.

Meanwhile, Leyden Rock is also a showcase for ranches – plans that have a natural appeal for older buyers taking advantage of the brisk pace of resales in Arvada and Golden; but also some low prices that can work for a young family budget – from $364,900.

Both sets of buyers get a community master plan with 65 percent dedicated to open space, to be wrapped by 17 miles of planned trails that will reach toward other Arvada and Jeffco trails into the canyons and foothills. Buyers are overwhelmingly interested in biking and outdoor living, says community rep Cindy Ditallo.

Three blocks from a planned park with large pool, Ditallo will show you a 2,142-foot ranch with walkout level and 3-car garage, framing up for early spring delivery. Like all of these homes it will have Lennar’s ‘Everything’s Included’ features (watch for the blue tags on items in the models) – fireplace, stainless double-oven and microwave, rounded corners, front yard landscape, super-efficient air conditioner and furnace, and ‘Smart Home’ Nexia technology that lets you check your door lock; monitor the thermostat, turn on lights, or even view a security camera (it’s included, too), whether you’re inside, or down at the market, or in a WiFi café in Timbuktu.

“Buyers love that we’re including those as standards rather than as upgrades,” Ditallo said. She’ll also show you three lots with those downtown views. From I-70 take Ward Road to W. 64th; head west to Indiana, then north two miles to 80th (Leyden Road) and head west.
