STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo.—The Steamboat Springs School Board is considering funding for all-day kindergarten after parents complained of paying tuition.
The state provides a little more than half of the funding for full-day kindergarten, and districts must either cover the rest or charge parents for the program. The issue is up for discussion on Monday.
According to Steamboat Today ( ), district officials said three parents in the Steamboat Springs School District had to take their kids out of the full-day program this year because they couldn’t afford the tuition, which costs most parents about $2,400 per year.
