Is it possible to detect the length of Sam Beam’s beard by listening to a particular album? If that were true, the latest album , “Ghost on Ghost,” would be the manscaped beard album.
The South Carolina native performed two tracks off of the manscaped album (via Nonesuch Records) on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on Friday. These songs hit polar opposites of Iron & Wine’s spectrum, with a breezy take on “Grace for Saints and Ramblers” to the the loungey web-exclusive, “Grass Widows.”
A great piece in the touched based with Beam and the expansion of his sound to include “Motown chord progressions,” among other jazz and blues inspirations. Watch Iron & Wine perform on Fallon below.
