An 18-year-old Fruita man died Saturday when a car ran off the road and collided with a number of fixed objects before coming to rest and catching fire, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The Mesa County Coroner’s Office identified Tyler Dingmann as the dead man on Sunday.

Dingmann and Christopher Squires, 23, were both ejected from the 1997 white Ford Mustang when it wrecked at the intersection of K ¾ Rd and 17 ¼ Rd in Fruita shortly after .

Squires was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction with serious injuries.

On Monday around 10:15 a.m. Squires was in the intensive care unit but stable, according to the hospital.

Colorado State Patrol is still investigating the car accident.
