BOULDER, Colo.—A 24-year-old Boulder man accused of trying to strangle a police officer after she stopped him on suspicion of riding his bicycle while intoxicated is scheduled to go to trial in September.
The Daily Camera reports ( ) Matthew Tello has pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree assault. He also faces misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and criminal mischief.
Police say they were investigating reports that a bicyclist got into a dispute with the driver of a car pulling out of a parking lot Feb. 17 when Tello began resisting arrest. Officer Beth McNalley was treated for minor injuries.
Tello is scheduled to go to trial Sept. 23.
