The Ward Gulch fire three miles north of Rifle has not grown significantly since Friday, . Any increase in acreage or boundaries is due to more accurate mapping rather than fire growth.
The fire has burned 682 acres and is 15 percent contained. by lightning and is burning in pinon-juniper trees and grass.
Crews made significant progress Saturday and crews Sunday will fight the blaze with hand crews, helicopters, two heavy air tankers and several smaller planes. More than 200 firefighters are working the blaze.
No structures are immediately threatened Sunday.
Rifle Falls State Park, Rifle Mountain Park, and the Rifle Falls Fish Hatchery are closed.
Rifle Gap State Park is open, but boating is not allowed.
Colorado 325 is closed in the area, and residents along the road are still under a mandatory evacuation order.
There will be a public meeting Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Colorado River Fire Rescue Station 41 (old Rifle Fire Station) on 1850 Railroad Ave. in Rifle.
