DENVER—Denver-area residents are getting an extra day to water their lawns.
The board of Denver Water, the state’s largest water provider, voted Wednesday to ease watering restrictions because of late spring snowfall. In March, it voted to limit Denver-area residents to just two days of watering. They’ll now be able to water three days a week under the less severe drought restrictions but officials are still urging homeowners to try to conserve water because the state is still in a drought.
Board president Greg Austin said it’s safe to relax restrictions now because snow from those spring storms have brought Denver Water’s reservoirs to reasonable levels.
The decision comes as many counties and agencies impose burning restrictions because of the high wildfire danger because of continued dry, hot weather.
