A two-alarm fire inside Columbine High School on Wednesday is believed to have been started by construction workers welding a door.

The first call for the fire came in at 5:40 p.m., said Doug Ireland, spokesman for the Littleton Fire Department.

Crews working on the roof caught insulation on fire, which spread and created a lot of smoke, Ireland said.

The fire was out by 6:16 p.m. Ireland said.
