Topping our picks of best Colorado shows this week are Avett Brothers, Robert Plant, Achille Lauro and more. We’ll be seeing you there, and if you don’t make it out, follow the music musings on our Twitter @RVRB and our selfies on Instagram @heyreverb.

4) Film on the Rocks:You Me & Apollo — Tuesday, Red Rocks, $12-35

You could easily make the argument that ’s Brent Cowles has a voice thatap bigger than the waves and action in “Point Break.” Now, why would you ever make this comparison? Well, because the band is performing back-to-back with the hit surfer/FBI 1991 flick at Film on the Rocks on Tuesday at . Itap the perfect — and probably only time — for anyone to compare and contrast You, Me & Apollo to “Point Break.” Plus, this is one of the few chances to catch this buzzing Fort Collins band this summer.

3) Achille Lauro Farewell Show — Saturday, Walnut Room, $15

For the last five years, ‘s airy, Police-like art-rock has been a welcome part of the Denver music scene. Sadly, the band is playing its final show at on Saturday. But what a show it will be. The great lineup of the night also includes the Morning Clouds, Vitamins and Land Lines.

2) Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters — Wednesday, Red Rocks, $59.75 – $49.75

Since the late ’90s, has focused on his bluesy roots — think the train-hopping riffs and melodies on “Led Zeppelin,” but with more folk and bluegrass influences. Now touring with the Sensational Space Shifters he’s picked up the pace from his days with Allison Krauss. From the looks of footage from earlier in the tour, Plant’s first time performing in Colorado with the shifters will bring some down-south versions of Zeppelin classics.

1) Avett Brothers — Friday-Saturday, Red Rocks, sold out

When first started releasing albums in 2002, the band was classified as a bluegrass band or even a country band. Today they are an indie-folk band. And thatap not to say they changed their sound drastically or even really at all. Mainstream tastes have changed, and with it the Avett Brothers’ genre and identity. Indie-folk is the new fad in music, and lucky for Avett Brothers they had been making music like this long before Mumford & Sons hit it big with vests and a twangy, pop charm. As proof of the popularity of this sound, Avett Brothers are once again playing two nights at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Friday and Saturday.
