GREELEY, Colo.—Even legal fireworks can cause problems for firefighters in dry Colorado.

The Greeley Tribune reports ( ) a three-acre grass fire was sparked at Windsor’s July 4 activities.

Fire Chief Herb Brady said Friday that a firework that was supposed to launch about 150 feet into the air detonated at least 50 feet early, sending embers into surrounding grasses near the launch site on the north side of Windsor Lake.

No injuries were reported, and no structures were damaged.

The area around where the fireworks were being set off had been wet down before the show.
